Is it me, or are the stars shining a little brighter tonight? I’m not sure the moon has ever been this bright or the night this calm. In a world filled with chaos and uncertainty, I’m enjoying a quiet moment of peace when everything feels as if it is as it should be. Why? Because after nearly twelve months of petitioning the Lord, my baby girl is finally coming home!
We’ve weathered threats of wars, earthquakes, tsunamis, nuclear meltdowns, changing politics, and the worst enemies of all: time, waiting, and uncertainty!!! The days have been long and the nights have often been dark, but in the midst of the storm, I have been constantly reminded that my God is in the storm!
He has promised “never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” Promises like that will get you through a lot of long, dark nights. Without Jesus in my life, I don’t know how I would get through the storms of life, let alone a normal day.
Recently, I’ve been carried along by a verse from Habbakuk 1:5 which says “…watch and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” Count me among the amazed!!! God is faithful and worthy to be praised!!!
Let me be clear though. He is not great because he answered my prayers. He is great because he is God. His greatness is not up for debate and it is certainly not dependent on my circumstances. Even if my prayers remained unanswered, he would still be great and I would praise him.
As Job once said, “though he slay me, yet I will trust in him.” At the end of the day, I must remember that God’s thoughts are not my thoughts and God’s ways are not my ways. I can’t begin to fathom how twelve months of patient (and sometimes very impatient) prayer and waiting could ever have been a good thing, but God can. I may never know all the reasons for the wait, but I do know one thing, my faith is stronger today than it has ever been and maybe that’s enough by itself!
My favorite line from my favorite worship song says, “Your light will shine when all else fades.” Twelve months of enduring has reminded me of the truth echoed in that statement. Our God is everlasting and no matter what comes our way, nothing is bigger than him!
So tonight, I am singing! Tonight, we dance! I’ve considered getting my ladder out, climbing on the roof, and doing some good old fashioned shouting, but its dark outside and I don’t climb very well!
Instead, I think I’ll just sing Psalm 126:
When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.
Indeed, the Lord has done great thing for us and we are filled with joy! All praise and honor be to God forever and ever, amen!

Yahoo!!!! We are singing, dancing, and celebrating with you! Actually, the Williams aren’t very good dancers so maybe we should skip that part.
